Our Vets

Arthur Foundation Scholarship in Veterinary Medicine. Kurt was a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honors Society and was awarded the Student Surgery Award from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
In his free time, Kurt plays hockey and golf, enjoys fishing, and travels with his family. He and his wife Julie live in Wilmette with their son Nolan, daughter Grace, Boston Terrier, Puck, and Labrador, Lucy.

Dr. Katherine Hillebrand joined Winnetka Animal Hospital in the summer of 2008 after practicing for a short while as an equine vet in Virginia. Raised in Kenilworth, Katherine is thrilled to be back on the North Shore and near the city she loves. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, where she double majored in biology and music, sang opera, and was a member of the University Riding Team. Katherine then received her DVM from Iowa State University in 2007. She resides in Evanston with Moose, her Bernese Mountain Dog, who comes to work with her everyday.

Dr. Dmitriy Kopytnik joined Winnetka Animal Hospital in August 2010. Dmitriy, originally from Belarus, graduated from Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine. He completed his Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) certification program at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Prior to coming to Winnetka, Dmitriy practiced as both a general practitioner and at a large referral hospital. He met his future wife, Dr. Heidi Sproul, while working at the Veterinary Specialty Center, where Dr. Sproul still works in the Department of Emergency and Critical Care. Dmitriy and Heidi live in Evanston with their daughter Veronika, and Labrador, Emmit. In his free time, Dmitriy enjoys fishing, reading, cooking, and outdoor activities.
